Kenneth and Jacalyn Smith Scholarship

The MCCF Kenneth & Jacalyn Smith Scholarship Fund was established when long-time MCC science instructor Ken Smith retired. The endowment has continued to build for many years and now provides a scholarship to help students succeed. While Ken taught college students, Jackie served as an elementary school teacher until her retirement. The Smith scholarship continues their life-long dedication to making a positive difference by supporting students.

Scot Smith, son of Kenneth & Jacalyn Smith, recalled the scholarship began after Kenneth retired from MCC and took on part-time teaching. He donated a portion of his income to build the scholarship. Scott said that education was one of the best ways to better your overall quality of life, not just monetarily, but in all things. Scott says his dad would probably ask recipients of his scholarship to keep this in mind and to ‘pay it forward’ in the future.
